How do you continue a simulation lesson when technology fails?
Preserve the decision task, not the screen. Stop new inputs, capture the last trustworthy evidence, and move to a route that still asks students to predict, compare, calculate, explain a tradeoff, and recommend a next test. A projected teacher-run model, one shared device, or a fictional paper case can produce equivalent evidence when the learning objective is business reasoning rather than software operation.

Recover without distorting the assessment
- Resume only for a purpose. If the class already has enough common data to analyze, restoring the live simulation may add distraction rather than evidence.
- Keep an evidence boundary. Separate verified output, student calculation, estimate, and missing information. A continuity note is stronger evidence than invented precision.
- Offer equivalent completion. Let students finish with the common data, paper case, oral explanation, labeled table, or a short later comparison. Keep the concept and rigor stable.
- Do not rank recovery speed. Device performance, typing speed, connection quality, and ability to provide personal technology are not business-learning outcomes.
- Document the interruption. Record what was unavailable and which substitute evidence was accepted so later grading and feedback are consistent.

- Do not require personal accounts, email addresses, phone numbers, mobile data, downloads, purchases, payment information, or personal devices as a fallback.
- Do not ask students to click advertisements. Advertising, if displayed, is separate from simulator controls and never part of the lesson, recovery route, or assessment.
- Protect names, grades, screenshots, device identifiers, accessibility needs, and other personal information. Use anonymous work IDs and approved submission methods.
- Provide perceivable instructions and equivalent response formats. A paper route is not automatically accessible; offer large print, screen-reader-compatible text, spoken description, extra processing time, or another approved format when needed.
